Swimming Against The Current
Proverbs 14:12

INTRODUCTION:
1.   There is a flood out there.
2.  The world is rapidly changing.
3.  Little House on the Praire has been replaced with a ten lane
freeway.

I.    A  COUNTER-CULTURAL  PEOPLE:
      A. We are called to be different than the world.
      B.  We are a Godly people.  Titus 2:11-14
      C.  We are an odd people.  Hebrews 11:16
      D. We must know how to be different than the strong flow of the flood.
      E. What do you do when God's commands don't make sense?

II.    Biblical  Non-sense.
      A.  Old Testament stories.
          1.  Adam and Eve.  Genesis 3:1-7
               -We become facinated with the line.
               -God held them to the line.
               -The effects were long reaching.
          2.  Saul and the Philistine Army.  I Samuel 28:1-16
          3.  Don't touch that ark.  I Chronicles 13:9-10
      B. New Testament confirmation. Acts 5:5, 10

III.   THREE PRINCIPLES.
      A. God has a Holy reason for every command. I John 5:1-5
      B. God's commands don't always make sense. Genesis 22
      C. God's commands must be obeyed when we don't understand. I Peter 1:14

Conclusion:
      1.   Very few believe in absolute truth.
      2.  It is an awesome thing to pass values to the next generation.
           Deuteronomy 11:18-21
      3.  We must model the holy life.  I Thessalonians 4-:3-8
