Some say God is…

Some say God is the great cosmic cheat,

Waiting to pull the rug from under our feet.

Others use a different word, the universal spoiler they call him,

Ready to destroy our fragile happiness on a mere whim.

But does all this make sense,

God lifts his hand and his creatures wince?

Is it possible that we’ve been lied to?

That God is actually loving, kind and true?

Maybe all these accusations apply not to God,

But to the enemy, Satan, the great fraud.

It is to this that I will cling,

That God is my friend, and of his love I will sing.
